The Faroe Islands is active in many areas especially in sports and festivals. Football, handball, and gymnastics are some of the popular sports for both youth and professional clubs.
Rowing is the national sport in the Faroe Islands where rowing competitions are held in different towns and villages at festivals in late May, June and July, and the final competition is held in Tórshavn on St. Olaf's Wake, Ólavsøka, on July 28th.
