New Faroese-language syllabus launched
A new directive outlines the structure of Faroese-language tuition for non-native schoolchildren
The Ministry of Culture has launched details of its new ‘Faroese as a second language’ syllabus.
This new syllabus will base all teaching of Faroese for non-native pupils on the Common European Framework of references for Languages (CEFR).
Teaching materials, exam questions and analytic tools are currently being prepared, as is a diploma course for teachers of Faroese as a foreign language.
In addition, non-native children will receive lessons in Faroese culture and society, and they will also have the option, where possible, of being taught in their native language.
Further details of the new syllabus will be published here soon.
